This blog post is a bit of a personal reminder. I recently needed to install Mediawiki as part of a cartographic taxonomy project on OpenStreetMap, which I am designing with a very good friend. This post is a reminder for myself, if I ever need to install Mediawiki again on a Linux distribution. First check if your distribution is up-to-date. sudo apt-get update -y We’ll need PHP, MySQL (or equivalent), so we install everything necessary.

I was convinced by the arguments I heard during a fantastic talk at BarCamp Yerevan 2023 about the benefits of having a blog. It’s a way of exposing ideas and ways of thinking, much more so than just with your Github. This raises the question of the technical tool that ensures this blog. My first thought was obviously Wordpress, which I also know pretty well. But it’s definitely an overkill solution for my needs, which are only to post from time to time.
